What is it?
As you age, the production of collagen and elastin, the proteins responsible for maintaining skin structure and elasticity, naturally decreases. This reduction in collagen and elastin production leads to a loss of skin firmness and elasticity over time. Because of this, crow’s feet, called this due to their appearance looking like (you guessed it) the foot of a crow develop. They can also develop due to constant squinting and smiling.
How is it treated?
Treatment for crow’s feet by one of our Bexley Dermatology skin care experts depends on the severity of your condition. Although prescription medications and topical creams may offer some improvement, Botox is typically the preferred treatment for crow’s feet. Botox injections are strategically administered into the skin to temporarily relax the facial muscles in the area of concern, preventing muscle contractions that lead to wrinkles. If you are interested in treating unwanted lines and wrinkles, schedule today at our Bexley office.
