Common warts, flat warts and plantar warts are caused by different strains of the human papillomavirus (HPV) and appear on the hands, face, feet or genitals.
What is it?
Warts are benign rough protrusions that develop on the skin when HPV infiltrates the body through a cut or a skin tear. These elevated, skin-toned growths can occur anywhere on the body, resembling a blister in appearance. While harmless, many of our patients at our dermatology clinic opt for their removal, as they can be transferred through touch, and quite frankly... they simply don't want these unsightly warts lingering on their skin!
Common warts are typically observed on hands, fingers, around the nails, or on the rear side of hands. Plantar warts manifest on the soles of the feet and can turn painful if left untreated. Flat warts can emerge anywhere on the body while filiform warts resemble threads on the face. Our medical experts in Bexley, OH are adept at treating these conditions.
